Prof. Dr. Xiangang Xu

Prof. Dr. Xiangang Xu was born in January 1965 in Shandong Province, China. He received the B. Sc. degree in physics and M. Sc. degree in condensed mater from Shandong University (Physics Department) in 1986 and 1989, respectively, and the Ph. D. degree in condensed matter on crystal materials from Shandong University (Institute of Crystal Material) in 1992. He has been the Special Invited Professor in Shandong University and VP/CTO in Shandong Huaguang Optoelectronics Co. Ltd since 2000.

Prof. Xiangang Xu has been working on MOCVD of Compound Semiconductor Epilayers (including As, P, Sb and Nitride) and device applications since 1989 and growth of SiC bulk crystals since 2000. He has published more than 50 papers and conference presentations.

Dr. Xu had been an Alexander von Humboldt fellow in the Institut für Halbleitertechnik, Aachen University, Germany from 1995 to 1997 under the host of Prof. K. Heime. He joined the Physics Department of Simon Fraser University, Canada, in 1997 as a research assistant, working on MOCVD of compound semiconductor epilayers and HBT applications. In 1999, he was employed as the technical manager of Super Epitaxial Products Inc. USA, taking charge in production of compound epilayers by MOCVD.

Prof. Xiangang Xu was awarded various prestigious fellowship, awards and honors, including Science and Technology Award in Education department of Shandong Province in 1993, the advanced development of science and technology in Shandong Province in1994, Alexander von Humboldt research fellow in 1995, the Electronics Letters Premium by IEE, UK in 1998, the Best Paper Award of IEEE, USA in 1999, Outstanding Young Researcher of Chinese NSF in 2000, the advanced development of science and technology of Shandong Province in 2003.

Prof. Xu offers lectures on Crystal Growth, Compound Semiconductors Materials and Devices, Nano-Technology and Sciences, Professional English.
